This document explains how our applications handle data and outlines our commitment to protecting user privacy. Our applications are designed to collect the minimum data needed to operate, and we provide this policy to ensure transparency and trust.

Definitions

Personal Data: Information that can be used to identify a person.

Offline Application: Software that operates without requiring a continuous internet connection.

Third-Party APIs: External services used to enhance the app's functionality (e.g., for loading website icons or routing LLM requests).

CLI: Spettro's terminal-based multi-agent coding assistant, distributed under the GPL-3.0 open-source license.

Backend: Our LLM inference service operated by Eyed® Softwares.

Spettro-Desktop: The desktop application for Linux and Windows, distributed by Eyed®.

Spettro for macOS: The native desktop application for macOS, built entirely in Swift and SwiftUI, distributed by Eyed®.

Scope and Data Processing Statement

Our Eyed applications are designed around data minimization. The following applications and services fall under this privacy policy:

Temporary or Incidental Data

Although our applications may temporarily process data during active use (e.g., session data in memory or pending authentication sessions), no data is retained beyond what is strictly necessary for proper operation.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our applications are designed with privacy in mind:

  1. General Use: No persistent cookies, advertising identifiers, fingerprinting, or third-party analytics are used in any of our applications, including all Spettro components.
  2. Eyed Pass: This application uses the internet solely to load website icons and does not employ tracking technologies to monitor user behavior.
  3. spettro.app (web): Uses Clerk for authentication. Cookies set by Clerk are functional (sign-in session) and are governed by Clerk's privacy policy; please review it for the categories involved.

Eyed Out

Privacy Commitment:

"Eyed Out," our browser, is designed to prevent the storage of any user data. It is built with privacy as a priority and is designed to limit tracking by websites.

Privacy Features:

The browser is based on WebKit, a framework known for its privacy-oriented features. Further details on WebKit's approach to privacy are available here.

Third-Party APIs:

Although "Eyed Out" uses third-party APIs, we ("Eyed®", "Eyed™") limit the data exchanged during such calls to what is strictly necessary. Such data is processed by the relevant third party under its own privacy policy.

Dark by Eyed™

Our extension "Dark by Eyed™" operates entirely offline. It does not transmit or receive data from the cloud, ensuring that user information remains exclusively on the device.

Eyed Search

Data Processing:

Eyed Search is engineered for privacy. We do not log personal data or IP addresses. The only information we retain is the search query in ANONYMIZED form. This data is completely disconnected from any user and is used exclusively to optimize search response times.

Spettro by Eyed™

Spettro is a terminal-first multi-agent coding assistant. It is composed of several pieces with different privacy characteristics: the Spettro CLI that runs on your machine, the Spettro Backend that we operate as an LLM inference service, the web application at spettro.app, and the desktop apps Spettro-Desktop (Linux and Windows) and Spettro for macOS.

What we collect and why

When you sign in to Spettro's cloud features, we process the following personal data:

  1. Email address — obtained from our authentication provider at the moment you complete sign-in. We use it as the account identifier and to render account screens.
  2. Subscription state — your current plan, billing status, and billing period. This is updated via our payment provider.
  3. API key (hash only) — every ep_… key we issue is stored exclusively as a hash; the plaintext is shown to you once and never persisted by us.
  4. Per-inference usage row — for each successful LLM call, we record the model alias, token counts, the cost computed from our pricing table, the API key id used, and the timestamp. We use this exclusively to enforce your monthly credit budget and to display your usage.

We do not store your chat history, your prompts, or the LLM's responses on our servers.

LLM request forwarding

Chat messages and tool results sent through Spettro are forwarded, verbatim, to upstream model providers to generate a response. The current set of providers is:

These providers may log, retain, or further process your messages in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

Local storage on your device

The Spettro CLI keeps conversation state, agent memory, and other artifacts strictly on your machine. Conversations, API keys (stored in encrypted form), configuration, memory files, custom commands and skills, and checkpoint history remain on your device. Nothing about the conversation leaves your computer except for inference calls to upstream providers.

Spettro-Desktop (Linux & Windows)

The desktop app is a thin view over the CLI subprocess. It does not duplicate secrets. It stores user preferences, chat-session snapshots, and — if you enable the LAN phone relay — records of paired devices locally. The desktop renderer does not embed analytics or third-party trackers.

Spettro for macOS

Spettro for macOS is a desktop application built entirely for macOS using Swift and SwiftUI. It functions the same as Spettro-Desktop — it is a view over the CLI subprocess — but, unlike Spettro-Desktop, it is not based on Electron: it is a native app that leverages macOS-native frameworks. It stores the same types of data as Spettro-Desktop (preferences, chat-session snapshots, paired-device records) in macOS-native locations. It does not duplicate secrets and does not embed analytics or third-party trackers.

Account deletion

You can request deletion of your account, including your email, subscription linkage, API keys, and usage records, by using the dashboard https://spettro.app/dashboard or writing to [email protected]. We action deletion requests within 30 days. Local artifacts on your machine (encrypted keys, conversation history, memory, checkpoints) are unaffected and remain under your control.

Third-Party Data Processing

Although our integrations with third-party services enhance functionality, we ensure that:

  1. Only the minimum necessary data is exchanged.
  2. We select providers whose policies limit the retention of user information to what is strictly necessary for their operation.

User Rights and Legal Considerations

We respect your rights in accordance with applicable privacy regulations (such as GDPR or CCPA). This includes the right to access, correct, port, and delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, write to [email protected].
